Don't see a trip scheduled for your date of travel?
We regularly schedule trips through out the year but, if you are looking for a trip scheduled more than a few months in the future, we may not have settled on specific date and/or itinerary. We invite interested travelors to write us for more informtion. Please tell us the dates you would most like to see us schedule a delegation and include any information regarding your preferences for itinerary, theme or location. Side trips are available to ancient Mayan cities, rain and cloud forests, tropical rivers, and beautiful colonial cities.
A typical year of planned travel:
January: New Years Trip. Come celebrate the anniverary of the Zapatista Insurrection.
February: To Be Announced. Early spring delegations have included trips for musicians interested in making music with secondary students and clowns who want to engage communities with their special magic. We have also sponsored trips focused on the productive projects, including womens co-ops with an emphaisi on supporting the commercial aspects of the Zapatista movement.
March/April: Alternative SpringBreak. Designed with the University in mind. (Anyone is welcome to join!) Who wants to spend spring break drunk on a beach? Come to Chiapas and meet the Zapatistas. You will have an opportunity to do good work, experience indigenous culture and perhaps change your life. You tell us the dates of your spring break and we will work from there.
June/July/August: Summer trips are abundant and diverse. Trips specifically designed for educators/students interested in learning about the autonomous education system or medical personnel interested in the organization of Zapatista health services... or Service trips which allow delegates to get their hands dirty helping out (help construct a school, plant some trees, pck some coffee, paint a school). We end the summer season celebrating the anniversary of the juntas de buen gobierno (the civilian government of the Zapatistas) on August 10th.
October: Come celebrate Day of the Dead in Chiapas.
December: New Years Trip. Come celebrate the anniverary of the Zapatista Insurrection.
We also invite you (and 3 of your friends) to design your own Zapatista experience ~ Request a specialty delegation
