Delegation 76 Summary Objective:
The delegation's objective is to plant approximately 5000 seedling trees in a Zapatista nursery including trees for reforestation as well as fruit and Neem trees.   Participants will learn about tropical forests, ecological agriculture, and the Zapatista movement through direct contact with Mayan promoters of ecological agriculture, local community members, and Zapatista indigenous.

Delegation 76 summary description:
No special linguistic skills or agricultural experience are required; but this delegation will travel into rural, indigenous Chiapas and live under rustic conditions in a tropical rainforest environment.  Participants will participate in nursery plantings including soil preparation, filling planting bags, watering, and other tasks.  The climate will be hot with frequent rain.  There is a river to bath in and shelters to string hammocks.  Basketball, rural cooking, and soccer skills ~ plus a sense of humor are very useful; patience and resilience are required!  Respect for Mayan community authorities and processes are vital.   An experienced, fulltime translator/guide will live and travel along with the delegation.  Delegates should have the ability to walk up to two miles in forest and agricultural territory and to travel in hot sun in the back of pickup trucks.  Delegates will sleep and eat in rustic buildings or tents in isolated rural, Zapatista civilian centers and communities.   Successful participants may be able to arrange extended volunteer work in Chiapas after participating in this delegation.

Costs of Delegation 76:
Two weeks of the minimum weekly wage of each participants home.  For example U.S. residents pay $262 X 2 = $524 USD. (airfare not included).  Note:  Cost varies by country of residence because the price is equal to two weeks of the minimum wage of the resident country.  Price includes ground transportation after arriving in San Cristobal, two meals a day, five nights in comfortable hotel, six days with full time guide/translator, coordination of delegation, and donation to an autonomous Mayan educational project.

Delegation 54 Registration Deadline:
There will be a 10% fee reduction for delegates who complete their online application and pay all fees on or before June 15, 2008.  Application and payment deadline is July 1, 2008; applications or payments which arrive after July 1, 2008 will be charged and additional 15% handling fee.
