Summary Objective of Delegation #95A
Participants in the Alternative Spring Break 2011 will gain an in-depth understanding of the broader Zapatista movement while directly experiencing contemporary realities of the autonomous, indigenous Maya communities of Chiapas, Mexico.

Where:
The location will be set by groups who commit to coming to Chiapas for an Alternate Sring Break experience. We can accomodate several goups who may, in turn, decide to combine efforts or travel independently, based on the needs of the specific goup.  Generally, we launch from either Palenque (in the North) or San Cristobal (in the highlands).  If a group wanted to arrange more adventurious travel to the more distant caracoles, arrangements could be made with sufficient notice.morning.  The airport nearest to San Cristobal de las Casas is Tuxla Gutierrez, Chiapas, Mexico at airport Llano San Juan (TGZ) and participants should allow two hours for travel between Tuxla Gutierrez and San Cristobal.  The airport nearest to Palenque is Villa Hermosa (VSA), Tabasco,  and participants should allow three hours for travel between Villa hermosa and Palenque.  Long distance buses between Mexico City or Cancun and San Cristobal de las Casas are also available.   Much more information available from our travel FAQs.

Otherwise, check back here often.  We'll update this page as soon as we finalize our plans for the delegation.

Cost for Delegation 95A:
